Our History

The Mathematical Society of S.Thomas’ College Bandarawela was established in
2016.The primary objective of starting this is to develop students’ latent
mathematical skills and ideas and release a group of successful students into
the society. From 2016 until now, H.D.D Chaturanga is the teacher in charge of
the Mathematical Society. Since 2016, the Mathematical Society, which has been
running under the interest of the students of our school, has carried out many
different types of projects.

If we consider the most special occasions among
them, launching a magazine called “Trigonometry”, donating books to the
libraries of selected schools under the name of Suchaaga Nanopakara,
conducting workshops with the participation of various lecturers and students
from various universities, and ‘Felicita’ by appreciating the students who excelled
in the higher level examination. Conducting the program and many other
programs are conducted by our college’s Mathematical Society. On July 17, 2017,
the college’s new math lab will be inaugurated. Also, the “Anshaka” Magazine,
which is a major project of the S. Thomas College Mathematical Society, will be
published for the first time in 2018.
